Honey Almond Milk Cold Brew Ingredients

  • Coarsely ground coffee: Or use store-bought cold brew concentrate.
  • Cold water
  • Honey syrup: Use store-bought, or make your own simple syrup by gently heating equal parts honey and water in a saucepan until the honey has fully dissolved. Leave the sweet honey syrup to cool before refrigerating in an airtight container or bottle for up to 1 month.
  • Ice cubes
  • Unsweetened almond milk: Alternatively, use your favourite milk of choice! Oat milk or soy milk would be great substitutes.

How to Make Starbucks Copycat Recipe at Home

First, make the homemade cold brew concentrate:

Top Tip! Do this the night before you want your iced coffee!

Step 1 – Add ¼ cup/15 grams coffee grounds and 1 ¼ cups/300ml cold water to a cafetière (French Press). Do not press the plunger, but leave to brew for 8-24 hours.

Step 2 – Strain the coffee using the plunger. Transfer to an airtight container (a mason jar or clip-top bottle is ideal) and refrigerate until needed.

Step 2 – Add 1 tablespoon honey syrup, the cold brew coffee* and a splash of almond milk to the glass. Stir and enjoy!

* If you prefer slightly less strong coffee, use less cold brew concentrate and top up with more cold water.

In the fridge Your honey almond milk cold brew coffee will keep in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

To serve Give it a shake to mix up the flavours before adding fresh ice. If the flavour has mellowed, try adding a little more honey syrup or some fresh cold brew.



Frequently Asked Questions

Use any type of coarse ground coffee that you have. You can either grind your own, or buy it ready ground. For a more authentic Starbucks flavour, I recommend getting your favourite Starbucks coffee.

You can, however, regular honey won’t mix well through your iced coffee. Not only does honey have a slightly grainy texture, but it is also thick and will harden when it is cold.

If you don’t have honey syrup, make your own by gently heating equal parts water and honey in a small saucepan until the honey has completely dissolved. Leave to cool and store your homemade honey mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Equipment

Ingredients

For the cold brew concentrate

  • 1/4 cup coarsely ground coffee (15g)
  • 1 cup cold water (approx 250ml)

For the honey syrup

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons water

For the honey almond milk cold brew

  • ice
  • 2 tablespoons honey syrup
  • 1 cup cold brew coffee (250ml)
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk (60ml)

Instructions

To make the cold brew coffee

  • Add the ground coffee and cold water in a french press and set to one side to brew for 8-12 hours, then refrigerate until needed.

  • Strain the coffee using the plunger.

For the honey syrup

  • Add the honey and 2 tablespoons water to a small pan and place over a medium low heat. Gently heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring often, until the honey melts and you have a runny syrup. Remove from the heat.

For the honey almond milk cold brew coffee

  • Add ice to a tall glass.

  • Add 1-2 tablespoons honey syrup to the glass. (Do not add regular honey, as the cold will make it harden into lumps.)

  • Finish with a splash of almond milk. Stir and enjoy.
