I love a smoothie, especially on a sunny day, and this one’s a classic. It’s a wholesome recipe made with simple ingredients that won’t disappoint.

One great thing about this easy smoothie recipe is that you can get fancy by adding extras like flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, protein powder or even leafy greens like spinach.

So that you can make this recipe all year round, we’re skipping some of the fresh ingredients by using frozen fruit and making it without yogurt (don’t worry you’ll still get a yummy, creamy smoothie!).

There’s nothing quite like a ripe strawberry in July (DELISH!) but let’s face it, they’re usually not up to the task during winter months. So, grab a bag from the freezer aisle and keep it on hand at home.

We’re also using Almond Milk, but you could substitute for any kind of milk you like.

Why You’ll Love This Banana Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

  • Super quick to make
  • It’s dairy free, gluten free and vegan
  • No need for lots of fresh ingredients, we’re using frozen

Ingredients Notes for Classic Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

  • Strawberries: You can use either fresh or frozen
  • Banana: I use fresh banana but you could also use frozen (see my top tip below). Break into pieces or cut into slices
  • Vanilla Extract: My secret ingredient to add extra flavor
  • Milk: I use Almond Milk to keep the smoothie both dairy and gluten free, but cow’s milk or any other dairy-free milk would work if you prefer that
  • Maple Syrup: Now we all know the best strawberries are super sweet, but if they are out of season they can be a bit lacking. If it needs it, give your smoothie a little added sugar with maple syrup, or honey if you aren’t vegan

Equipment

  • High-Powered Blender

  • If your blender isn’t powerful enough to blend large frozen strawberries, go for smaller pieces of frozen banana instead and use fresh strawberries. Having at least one of your fruits frozen will make your smoothie nice and cold without the need to add any ice cubes.
  • Pour your smoothie into a popsicle mold and freeze for a healthy snack another day.
  • Use ripe bananas in increase the natural sweetness of your smoothie
